+++New Climategate inquiry?+++

House Oversight and Government Reform ranking member Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is promising to give a “careful relook” at climate change science in the wake of last year’s “Climategate” scandal if Republicans take over the House.

This, I think, is part of the lead-up to the coming elections in USA and surely has significant motivations other than that stated.
Good. I think a long, wide, and deep investigation is highly desirable, using legal as well as scientific analysis methods, including hard sciences and soft, and concentrating on the UK and the USA, the two main centres of leadership in this shameful saga. I suspect, and fervently hope, that this is going to be a major topic of study for at least a generation to come, given the damage that has already been done and which may well yet be added to before the political momentum has been spent.
Anybody know if the US DOE funding of CRU is still suspended?

off topic a bit... they might want tolook at the behaviour of the 'warmists (Richard Black's new word)
The cavalry has arrived.... at Richard Blacks blog
They are not that bright, for some reason, they think sceptics can't/won't/are not able to read 'warmist' (Richard Black's description ;) ) blogs

Romms boys have been sent over to Richard Black's blog, enjoy the comments at Climate Progress.....
They seem a bit upset by Roger Harrabin's latest article as well.
Republican Congressman Issa said: “... it’s very clear that those people [the CRU email scientists] played fast and loose with both the truth and our money.”
Hasn’t he heard about the three independent enquiries which cleared themof any wrongdoing?
If we are successful in November, I would anticipate that the EPA would also be called before Issa'a Committee.
By the way, I attended my second Tea Party meeting Monday night. Very impressive speakers. The Tea Party slogan is: "No compromises! No surrender!" My Congressman was present, a solid conservative, and he promised that if the House went Republican, they would refuse to fund Obamacare in any Appropriations Bill.
Roger Pielke Jr has his own take on this story:

I still can't agree with/understand his position though. His premises seem to be: a) the world desperately needs energy b) we must decarbonise now c) public opinion strongly supports MMGW d) any further debate about the science behind MMGW is silly ... Sooo... we must have a small carbon tax that doesn't decrease productivity.... ???

The success of the Tea Party in gaining party nominations was widely reported in the British Guardian newspaper. They consider the Tea Party to be a dangerous extremist organisation, though the only evidence they produced was the fact that one Tea Party candidate was opposed to masturbation.
Clearly, Guardian journalists feel the Tea Party to be a threat to all which they hold most dear.

I am sure he has and laughed as hard as many of us. Be sure that it will be no white wash if he gets the hearings, which I think he will.
Somehow, sometime, somewhere it will be known who was the Deep Throat behind the Climategate emails. This person will be known as starting a revolution in climate thinking. A Nobel Peace Prize?
Barry,
Your postings over at Blacks blog are absolute crackers...and for some reason which I cant work out I am wondering why more and more of your posts are being censored by the powers that be?
We cant be having all that inconvenient chatter going on at the home of Mann Made Global Warming Concensus Gate Keepers (tm) can we? :)

geoffchambers,
Funnily enough, the BBC et al also considers the tea movement to be full of full time race haters.
Dont you love it how the left projects itself upon everyone who disagrees with it! :)

"one Tea Party candidate was opposed to masturbation"
I'm not sure I approve of it at tea-parties, either...
