Hmm. Maybe I am missing something, but how can you tell from the link that the book is a signed copy?

Thanks,

James

They took 100 copies and I agreed to sign bookplates for the lot.

Thank you, Mr. Montford.

If I knew how to do it, I would revise the website text to make sure people know they get free shipping, a free CD of reference material collected on my computer hard disk and the signed bookplate from the Bish. I haven't seen my web guy for a while, I think he's in hiding or something.

I'm also doing a bit of outreach. If you know of a warmist who should have a copy, let me know. Mr. Watts got a free copy...as did the little girl from Beeville, TX (I got a nice thank you note which I appreciate). Also, a fellow who said he was too poor to buy a copy.
Don't tell my wife, okay? She thinks the point is to make a profit. Ha!

Arnold, if you place an order quick before I come to my senses, I will ship one to Holland...

Darn, already have a copy. Oh well, that means I will just have to visit Britain and get a signature 'direct'.

Unless you are going to do a U.S. book tour? Now there's a great idea! I'll buy a round or two if you come down to San Diego.

Andrew, send me a snail mail address and I'll send you one of the Bish's signed bookplates. And, spread the word, there's inventory for everyone.

Do I smell an collectors market evolving? Might see if I can get Mr Ward to endorse mine! If not I'm sure Prof Joyner would add a comment or two.

O the art of publicity, for once we see that truth sells.

However I am beginning to think that the style of criticism HSI has received is because the critics expected it to carry their own MO. The concept that it is possible to just relate the facts appears to elude them, they naturally assume that it is spin because that is their world i.e. the political world.

All very counterproductive to the development of mankind and the improvement of the enviroment

Dear Andrew,

We are a team of young scholars and professionals focusing on critical issues of the world including Climate Change from China. Members in our team have followed you, McIntyre, McKrick and the related websites (www.wattsupwiththat.com, www.climateaudit.org) for quite some time and have digested most of the major points. We especially think your recent book HSI is excellent and is an appropriate form to bring the influence of related efforts outside the narrow confines of the climate blogsphere.

China has been, very largely, a mere recipient of AGW propaganda in the past decades, at least in mass media level. The issue was especially "heated up" in the winter of 2009 following some aggressive sales promotion by international NGOs such as Greenpeace Hong Kong. We feel that there should be the honest voice who reveals the fact behind to the Chinese people--at least the intellectuals and professionals, and also the ordinary people, if possible.

Specifically, the (in)famous hockey-stick curve happened to be first announced in China by John Houghton (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/1130501.stm), and leaved a heavy burden to clear up. Although some amateur writers in China published 2-3 books in Spring 2010 to question the soundness of AGW theory, their criticisms are not so much to the point as you guys, and consequently, they are not treated seriously by the mainstream media.

We have rich experience in publishing industry and media, and have helped to produce some nonfiction bestsellers and ignite constructive debates in the public in the past few years. At the same time, we keep close working relationships with some outstanding scholars in China (with backgrounds in geoscience, statistics, economics, and other social sciences), and a recent heavy-weight review of your book by our team has already drawn attention from the academics (to be published soon on an academic journal). We think it would be great if we could cooperate with each other. We would like to translate the HSI into Chinese, and as an agent of yours, help to make it published and let Chinese people appreciate this book; hopefully it would be another bestseller. Of course, if it becomes popular, further moves could be planned.

That is our current thinking and proposal. Looking forward to your reply.

Lian Jian from Beijing, CHINA.

ps: we have tried twice to contact with you (through the contact page for 1 time, through the comment deliver for another,) and found no response. So, we tried again.

Lian Jian

When the Chinese "heavy-weight review" of the HSI is published, would it be possible for you to translate it into English and post it here?

The heavy weighted review offered to officials and scholars was already published, I scanned the full text and upload with the link. Auditors could download it.
