You know it is difficult to believe they're getting death threats. Are they a new thing? When did they start? Are the police investigating them? Quite a few of these guys have now said they're getting death threats by email, what would it take to follow up where these emails came from, presumably the have an IP address from which they can work, I can't believe everyone would be careful enough to cover their tracks so they can't be found. Certainly it's a recent meme, since Climategate I believe.
At this time we only have their word for it, and I'm not sure any of those who have claimed death threats are the sort of people whose word you can rely on.
Death threats? I wouldn't have the time nor inclination but I do think the disapprobation that has been heaped upon Santer is thoroughly deserved.
The 'cry-baby' laments are proof of the puerility and stunted growth of these adolescent numpties, seems maturity is lacking in climatology circles along with a dearth of honesty.
When $9 billion has been thrown at you, arrogance takes over, stuff probity, stuff Uncle SAM, what a waste of government money - that is the real crime (but these lads have no shame).
No sympathy here, you make your bed.... .
Do any of the climate skeptic sites get death-treats? If so, maybe they should have a post about that?
How does having a dead rat delivered to your door qualify as a death threat? Or was the rat an AGW supporter, too? Look out, Ben, you next!
Death threats? From a few idiots perhaps. Have these threats been reported to the police? If not then I suggest that the claims are as much a smokescreen as are suggestions of contemplation of suicide!
James "Death to the Infidel" Hansen of GISS/NASA is well-accustomed to threatening independent researchers with judicial murder for daring to oppose his pathetically benighted views. Somehow it never occurs to his Green Gang that in any suitably authoritarian context their foolish rants would condemn them first to Ayers' re-education murder-camps-- heresy lies not in what you say, but that you dare to say it.
This whole sorry episode from c. 1988 will long provide a cautionary tale of what transpires when ignorant and fundamentally very stupid ideologues presume to dictate cause-and-effect in Nature's real world. Canute was not attempting to beat back the tides, but demonstrating to his sycophantic courtiers that even royal power has its limits. Would that such as Briffa, Hansen, Jones, Mann, Trenberth et al. had even half the sense of an 11th Century Norse Vikingar.
Don't forget the guy from Green Peace ( based in India I think ) who a few months ago had a major rant on the Green Peace website with all sorts of threats and adding "we know where you live ".
