Wiki on the Hockey Stick Illusion

There is now a Wikipedia article on the Hockey Stick Illusion.

I thought I would read the entry quick, before it gets modified and goes the way of other Wikipedia entries on the subject of climate change.

I have bought my copy of your book and I am looking forward to reading it but I am currently working my way through Chill by Peter Taylor.

Waiting for William.. he'll be along soon, to edit it, or spirit it away. Though I gathered he's suspended from Wiki editorial duties until June or so, pending an investigation. Not sure if that's correct.. my understanding of the inner workings of Wiki are very limited.

He`s not suspended he just had a short block for breaking his parole. I doubt anyone can really do much to the article, I found all the referance`s to it i could, funnily enough i was unable to find any crits :) Were`s monbiot when you need him lol

I suppose I was one of those silent readers who fell on to the intriguingly titled Casper and the Jesus Paper not knowing where it would take me. It was one of those few landmark essays so compelling that one cannot interrupt reading. Like a prospector finding a nugget. Well done, well deserved.

My goodness! They even mentioned the endorsement by George Gilder, without sliming him! What's happening here?

After suitable editing, we'll learn that you alone are responsible for the death of the Queen Mum.

Connolley will be spitting feathers when he sees this.
Looking at the history and discussions, it seems none of the Witchfinder's familiars have gotten wind of it yet. You need to archive a copy quickly, because there is no way that it will stay up as it is right now
Nevertheless, wonderful to see the truth for once, even if it is only briefly.

A good, honest review of a fascinating book. I'm amazed it got past the AGW gatekeeper at Wikipedia!

HSI kicks A$$! I'd say you're nationwide, but you're GLOBAL. I can't find a song to pay tribute on a global level, so gonna have to go with this one for you.

Congrats!!

Jolly good show! You've arrived!

Now all we need is a page for Josh. :)

Just tried to order your book at Amazon (US) but it's out of stock. :(

[BH adds: see my post on US availability]

I'm still working my way through my copy of HSI, which finally(!) arrived, and have already ordered a second one to donate to my local library. In fact, I think I may order two or three more to donate to the other area libraries I patronize.

HSI is beautifully and logically written, Andrew, and such a pleasure to read.

It will be interesting to see how William Connolley and his ilk get their teeth into morphing this into something quite different. The corruption that these guys get up to and get away with is breathtaking.

Any meaningful edit would require admission of having read the book!

Interesting to note on the discussion page of the 'Climatic Research Unit email controversy' Wiki entry that WC made several comments on 31 March and two on 1st April.

No Wiki entry yet for Mosher and Fuller's book that I could find.

Just wait till the Connelley/AGW gang start editing it....

I don't think Wiki accepts articles on self-published books although since it was cited several times in the Parliamentary hearings, they might be able to argue their case.

Connelley at Stoat seems more intent on boring us with rowing stories on the Cam - he seems to have lost his way a bit as a rabid alarmist. Though I suspect he is seething and ready to slime anyone and everyone he can.

Can there EVER be a more loathsome action than perpetrating spin?

Rumour has it that Wiki has seen the light on the spin and if so this article should stay pretty much as is.

After all, all it states is what is in the book. Anything negative that appears will be the result of vitriol, bile and childish anger.

Three aspects of William Connelly's psyche that his previous actions indicate he has in abundance.

I have great faith in Wikipedia's ability to edit anything to take out inconvenient proven facts & put in qualifiers & a fact free "controversy" section.

Connolley served as a parish councillor in the village of Coton (near Cambridge, England) until May 2007.

"...And folks in Shelford and those parts
Have twisted lips and twisted hearts,
And Barton men make Cockney rhymes,
And Coton's full of nameless crimes..."

Congrats on the Wikipedia entry, hope it sticks.

For anyone interested, I just ordered from the States on Amazon and one of their partners has copies in stock.

Just wait till the Connelley/AGW gang start editing it....

He's fiddling with it.

You blokes didn't really think you were going to get away with this did you? William M. Connolley is on to it already - 3 discussion posts in just over an hour.

He will outline the truth for all to see in a little less than a day. And Wikipedia will maintain it's pristine record on the reporting of climate science. As anyone can see by reading the discussion comments on the "Climatic Research Unit email controversy". Which apparently is the well known, world wide consensus on how to refer to these events rather than the minority term "Climategate".

A minute ago the wp page still existed and I'm very surprised. I and many other people have been, over the years, frustrated that the wp passive smoking page is controlled by half a dozen anti-tobacco activists. One frustrated editor suggested creating a page entiltled "The War on Tobacco" or similar. He was told this was not allowed. I naively, then thinking that wp was about knowledge and understanding. suggested that we should each create our own page, and a principle similar to pendulum arbitration would ensure the gradual removal of propaganda and ridiculous claims. We would be left with a clear discussion of the points of dispute. No, this isn't allowed. I think it's called, in the best tradition of these sixth-form Hobbit fans, a wikifork.
Perhaps you have found a wikiloophole? The book exists; it's selling well; so no good reason to have the article banned from wp. I'll keep checking.
