Dundee Courier

For local readers, there is a full-page feature about yours truly and The Hockey Stick Illusion in today's Dundee Courier. It's not online at the moment.

Ah the great publishing empire of D.C. Thomson. Can we expect to see a properly sceptical Dennis the Menace in the next edition of the Beano?

Would it OT to pour scorn on the fact that the execrable TV cartoon version of DtM has given him - shock horror! - a Lancashire accent?

Dundee used to be famous for 'Jute, Jam and Journalism'.

Good to see that at least one of them is still alive and kicking.

Who knows, it might even have an impact on my Guardianista in-laws who also get the Courier every day.

Well done Bish.

A pity we can't read in over on this side of the pond. Perhaps you can get a PDF of it made as a image and posted somewhere. Do ask permission from the paper, it is copyrighted.

I can't wait to see the next Broons annual with Ma and Pa siiting at Largs, eating their 3 bob fish suppers. Ma says "I'm sure the sea is higher than when I was a wee girl". The brainy one Horace pipes up "Ma, you're imagin' things, have ye no read 'The Hockey Stick Illusion" by Arthur Montford. Global warming is for weans and dafties'. It was in the Courier".

(Arthur Montford is a Scottish football joke by the way. The Broons is a DC Thomson Sunday Post cartoon strip.)

Amazing to get a review in a newspaper like that. Congratulations !

Just finished your book. Exceptional work - well done!
I also make a point of reading this blog daily, in particular to keep abreast of climate issues.

I usually read The Courier online but saw the' climate of change ' article on the front of the paper when I was in the shops so bought a copy. You've made an extra sale for them ! Just away to read it.
Dundee is about to suffer another 2 bird choppers that will sit on our waterfront and spoil one of the best views in Scotland. Local homeowners are opposed but the local SNP council and SNP government love all the global warming guff so they will probably get accepted.
Meanwhile 5 Scottish Government MSPs are about to embark on a jolly to the US and Canada to discuss ways to alleviate global warming. All expenses paid, top hotels, business class flights of course. £30K for a weeks travelling. Good job there's not a recession or anything. And what about their carbon footprint ? Tut tut.

Just finished reading this book. A thriller from start to finish. Can't wait to watch the film that must follow. Ideas on who'll play the leading characters? Seriously, though, it's very worrying that "The Establishment" is so committed to AGW.

Also, note how the "facts" are manipulated to suit the required outcome, eg the Parliamentary Committee acquitted Jones (more or less), because any other result would be embarrassing. On the other hand, in a different sphere, great effort was made to damage another subject of investigation (Sharon Shoesmith of Baby P infamy), because the required outcome in this case was the opposite. Disgraceful.

I have been waiting three weeks for Amazon to deliver four copies, after having read the book a month ago. They promise delivery within 3 weeks. I'm not sure how many they had stocked originally, but they appear behind on deliveries at present.

I'm also waiting on Amazon.com for an order of 4 copies. (sigh)

I too have just finished your book.

It is a very clear rendition of what happened.

And to think the UK parliamentary committee was a whitewash after that!

The will be a real enquiry one day, I'm sure.
you book will be prime evidence.

Good work.

Bishop, you need to get your publisher to get this book stocked with an affiliate of Amazon in the U.S., it is currently unavailable at a reasonable price.

I finished The Hockeystick Illusion at 3:30 am this morning. Although I've been a lurker at ClimateAudit for the past 5 or so years, and have had visibility to many of the events in the book, I am surprised at the emotional impact it's had on me. I feel renewed anger, frustration, and fear. The bold and shameless manner in which the Hockey Team, the media, the IPCC, and "people in higher places" have ignored the facts and pushed forward with their agenda... is mind-boggling.

The book is an exceptional piece of work. My compliments, and I hope for success in finding a North American publisher. I will buy many copies for distribution...

Hi

The Courier is testing a new beta site at the moment. We carried the Bishop Hill feature. See it here: http://beta.thecourier.co.uk/Living/Outdoors/article/348/bishop-hill-the-blogger-putting-climate-science-to-test.html

Oh, and thanks to the commenter above for the obligatory "Jings, crivvens..."
