Heard a recomedation right at the end of the Bacon show on fivelive by one of his guests as something to see over Christmas earlier this afternoon. Anyone in London able to see it and give it a review?
There are many legends BBD, but in the more common one, that of St Nicholas (Sint Niklaas in Dutch, and hence Santa Klaus) he is often depicted in episcopal vestments, often red or purple. St Nicholas predates Coca Cola by some centuries, but you are right, they did pinch the story and created the modern commercial Claus
Quite so Dreadnought; dashed confusing all these intermingled myths and legends. Wassail! indeed, and best wishes and Happy Christmas to the Bish and all denizens of his diocese.
It is said that the modern day Santa came from the Clement Clarke Moore illustrated poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas" and Coca Cola just stole it, but I could be wrong!
I heartly recomend that everyone go away and have a fantastic Christmas and new year with there friends and family and come back in 2011, battries recharged, AGW anger meter reset (as it builds up over the year) and come back in the new year with a level head ready for the faith and insanity of AGW.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all deniers of model (should that be modern?) science.
And a special thank you from all of us sceptics to all those arguing in the MSM so publicly this Christmas, that the current freezing cold spell is a result of AGW.
So Ladies and gentleman, please be upstanding, and raise your glasses. I give you: "To The Gift That Keeps On Giving!".
Happy Christmas one and all - especially to the Bish and all his family!
At least the red button didn't have the word "Easy" on it. As per office supplier Staples commercials that feature a big read button with word "easy" on it, and the tag line: "That was Easy"
I have never been a fan of T-Shirts and teacups that carry specific messages. However, even I would consider buying a set of climate themed, funny but non-snarky Christmas & New Year & Birthday cards to send friends and relatives. So much money is spent on those cards throughout the year. Something for Josh to think about next year perhaps.
Merry Christmas all round. Time to open the presents.... Kaboom! :-D

Push the red button! You know you want to.
You'd better watch out, you'd better not fry
You'd better not doubt, I'm telling you why
Santa Thaws is coming to town
He's making a trick, he's checkin' it twice
He's gonna twink out wots snowy or ice
Santa Thaws is coming to town
He sees when its been snowing
He knows if it’s a fake
He knows if you've been had or not
So believe for goodness sake
You'd better watch out, you'd better not fry
You'd better not doubt, I'm telling you why
Santa Thaws is coming to town
Merry Christmas
Oddly enough, Santa really was green at one time (a distant memory of evergreen worship at mid-winter may explain why).
Then the Coca-Cola corporation came along and re-branded him - using its own red and white corporate livery.

BBD, Cumbrian Lad
I think it was Father Christmas who wore green before he got conflated with St. Nicholas (who is quite a different character).

Merry xmas one and all, hope everyone has fun, doesn't drink too much and gets ready for another year of fun and frolics at the climate circus.

And since we are all in festive mood, here is a selection of memorable messages that I've seen on T-shirts over the years:
"I do what voices in my head tells me to do"
"Masturbation causes blindness" (printed in fuzzy fonts)
"Enjoy Cocaine" (in Coke colour and fonts)
"Philosophy I am in it for the money"
