BBC staff overpaid?

This made me laugh. From the BBC CoJo blog:

The estate agents Strutt and Parker have taken a quarter-page ad in the BBC's in-house paper Ariel under the heading: "Relocating to Manchester?"

It offers a single property - "an historic Georgian Manor House with stunning views and far reaching gardens and grounds." About 4.4 acres.

Beneath the picture of the elegant house, with its long terrace and ha-ha leading down to a beautifully manicured lawn, is the price: "Offers in Excess £1,350,000."

Word has clearly leaked out about how everyone at the BBC is a millionaire.

As part of its Cancun Week, today's piece at http://ourmaninsichuan.wordpress.com/ is the second part of the Low Carbon Plot translation.

No wonder the journos are getting worked up about the pension scheme. I wonder how long before its green investment strategy has to be revised?

James P, should it be legal for news corporations to make investments in areas of public policy; isn't it some kind of conflict of interest?

Imagine if they were taking license fee money and going down to the bookies to bet on the outcome of strictly come dancing you can bet that they would make sure they win. It's similar with climate change because to a certain extent they are controlling the news content and reporting by removing contradictory views. It appears that too many influential people have too much money tied up up in climate change it's going to be like the banking crisis all over again where this becomes to big to fail and we the taxpayer have to compensate bad investment strategies to keep the rich rich.

Bish,

could you interest that site in publishing your previous article about the BBC, after all it is the College of Journalism, and it might educate them in how the BBC treats genuine, unbiased journalististic endeavour.

Good point, Jason. Hard to say if it's deliberate (more the result of a certain mind-set, perhaps) but it certainly looks like they're trying to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Of course, Ofcom has said that Climate Change isn't a matter of public policy...

How's Harrabin getting there? I seem to recall that the BBC Cancun budget had taken a hammering with all the coverage of the Chilean mining rescue.

As PG Wodehouse observed, you never know around which corner Fate is waiting with the brass knuckles... :-)

BBC College of Journalism???? Another oxymoron, with the word MORON to the fore!

I thought that they just dragged individuals in off the street, sat them at desks, instructed them as to what the BBC policy is on various subjects and told them to go out and indoctrinate people.

Where did I go wrong I wonder?

One doubts one's grasp exceeds one's reach on 4.4 acres. But one must take some bads with the good.

Did you all notice how BBC "helped" the Africans to help BBC push the agenda ?

"The report was carried out for the BBC World Service trust and the British Council"

"But most of those interviewed did not connect these changes with global causes such as emissions of carbon dioxide.

Instead people tend to blame themselves or their peers for local environmental degradation and some see the changes as a form of divine punishment."

Well, they're not far apart, are they?

They are probably not millionaires yet, until the relocation package cuts in. Perfectly fair to spend public money buying them mansions, after all it will be a terrible wrench for them moving from Islington and Notting HIll to Manchester.

Not everyone at the BBC is a millionaire. The reporters aren't; the senior managers are.

they get "compensated" for the penury of having to relocate .
You cannot do this evey30 years yo know. the family cohesion might suffer

It's Grim Up North - as they say.

Perhaps Roger and Richard will embark on a Get Carter like rampage of score settling.

The BBC, it's just another example of an establishment gravy train. I cannot think of one QUANGO, NGO, or establishment "charity" that actually provides value for money while they pillage the public coffers.

And they tell us we live in a democracy, I think the joke is on us.

anyways this is the times where you get destroyed for a tweet and get millions when you are plucked from the battlefield killing our soldiers.
as long as it all happens with a 14-18 poppy pricked on the chest.
