Government kiddy fiddlers

There is a petition which requires the attention of civil liberties supporters:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to to remind his government that parents must remain responsible in law for ensuring the welfare and education of their children and that the state should not seek to appropriate these responsibilities.

It's an excellent cause for a petition and I've signed.

But I still fear that there may be an un-noticed EU requirement buried somewhere in this, so it's possible that our Provincial Government will eventually have to admit that its hands are tied.

Thanks for the link, Bishop. The more signatories, the better.

And no word yet from those in the HE community who we usually rely on to tell us about an EU connection, possibly because our own legislation looks bad enough if interpretated loosely :(

You're very welcome. I don't get the feeling this is EU myself, but you never know.

I note that Longrider has linked too
