CRU public inquiry petition

There's a petition up to encourage the government to set up a public inquiry into the CRU. Sign here.

The Englishman has also highlighted a similar petition on the Number10 site which, to my mind, is worded a little better.

We need an investigation into the contents of the leak not the manner of the leaking.

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/UEACRU/

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to suspend the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia from preparation of any Government Climate Statistics until the various allegations have been fully investigated by an independent body."

I put in a petition to Number 10 a couple of months ago asking for a public enquiry into the academic integrity at CRU. I got an email back, rejecting the petition on the grounds that it might have been libellous!

Ha!

Good luck with yours.

It looks like as a non-Brit I'm not supposed to sign this petition. All the same I wish the enterprise well.

What's the point of the petition in the main message?

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Establish an Independent Inquiry into the leaking of emails and documents from Hadley/CRU"

The last thing we need is an inquiry into the leaking of emails and documents!

Please change the link in the main post to that in the first comment.
