More CRU revelations to come

A commenter has just pointed out to me that the hackers who left the file link at the Air Vent described what they had made available as "a random selection" of what there was. So there could be more to come.

Everyone enjoying themselves?

I'm enjoying this.
Unfortunately many of the climate blogs are overloaded and so it's near impossible to keep abreast of the revelations and all the outrage being expressed. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow morning when those over the water are tucked up in their little trundle beds.

Whatever. This one is going to run for a while, so I'd better stock up on popcorn.
Thank God for the web otherwise this story would have been buried within hours.
Keep up the good work.

Is that a random selection of what the hacker/s found at CRU, or a random selection of what they hold? If there is more material to be released, I can only wonder at what further horrors may emerge.

Though despite Jones's acknowledgement that CRU was hacked, I still can't get past the feeling that this is all too good to be true. If it is, how can this not be the end of the MMGW scam - as well as the death knell for the reputations of several previously internationally famous climatologists and the end of a colossal earner for a small number of putative carbon trading billionaires? If true, the consequences could be huge for the whole planet.

And I also can't help wondering about the timing of the release of the hacked material, just as the warmists are winding up the ratchet for Copenhagen. Cui bono?

Sometimes in life there is no conspiracy - just "events". It doesnt matter why this has come out now. Why was 9/11 on 9/11? No issue. The issue is whether it is true. Judge it on its merits. My judgement says "true".

We feel that climate science is, in the current situation, too important to be kept under wraps.
We hereby release a random selection of correspondence, code, and documents.
Hopefully it will give some insight into the science and the people behind it.

Phil D,

I think that even if Jones broke down, fessed up, denounced others and resigned (unlikely I'd say, but we'll see) this wouldn't be the end of the AGW scam. It's gone far beyond a scientific proposition, it's got aspects of religion, politics, politicians have jumped on the bandwagon, the EU has jumped on the bandwagon, serious money has been invested, even more serious money is set to be spent and taxes to be raised.

It's difficult to see, however big this got, it would sink all that's involved in AGW. At best it will be like another bomb hit on the Yamato. It took quite a few to finish it off.

I hope there is more to come. I hope the hacker's plan is to drip-feed these releases in the run-up to Copenhagen. If so, I hope most of all that Phil Jones et al KNOW this is the plan.

It is incredible. Yes let it all come out!. Yes the main goal is to stop Copenhagen. It seems WWF is one of the main players in all of this as evidenced by their funding etc They have also lobbied our government extensively over the years in Australia. Have linked files etc here;

"Sometimes in life there is no conspiracy - just "events". It doesnt matter why this has come out now. Why was 9/11 on 9/11?"

..and sometimes there is a conspiracy. September 11 was probably chosen as it was the anniversary of the Battle of Vienna in 1683 - which halted the (then) Islamic invasion of Europe. Read your history!

Cosmic

I take your point that many influential people have a very great deal invested in MMGW (particularly the UN and the EU) and they will fight to keep it going, but surely confirmation of conspiracy and scientific corruption on this scale must lead to a massive increase in the public's rejection of the MMGW scam as well as undermining the alarmists' favourite weapon, 'the science is settled' ('fixed' might have been more apposite).

And even the Yamato sank eventually, when its magazine exploded after 10 torpedo and 7 bomb hits. After ten years of flat temperatures and the revelations over Briffa's Yamal work, I'd like to think this could be the final torpedo strike.

I suspect that the AGW juggernaut will continue on momentum alone well into the new year. Already the crew at CRU is trying to brass it out. It sounds a lot like "I am not a crook" (Nixon, November 1973) and we all know how that worked out - but not till Aug 9, 1974. Damage control is vigorously underway. Don't forget all the political capital invested in AGW. There will be a lot of backing and filling before the ultimate collapse - using taxpayer money, of course.

"It seems WWF is one of the main players in all of this as evidenced by their funding etc"

quite - and the WWF are taking no risks with the Met office, one of their men oversees it:

"Nothing more tellingly reflects the Met Office's partisanship, however, than the fact that its present chairman is Robert Napier, a green activist who previously ran WWF UK, one of the most vociferous of the climate change lobby groups. Mr Napier now helps run not only the Met Office (which has been part of the Ministry of Defence ever since its forecasts came "from the Air Ministry roof") but also an array of other bodies centrally involved in driving the political climate-change agenda. It would seem that our Bishop has his name dropped in a few of these emails:

Media reaction to the Yamal story has been rather limited so
far. I'm
not sure whether this is because people are trying to digest what it
means or whether it's "too hot to handle". None of the global
warming
supporters in the mainstream media have gone near it. The
reaction of
the Guardian - to delete any mention of the affair from their
comment
threads - has been extraordinary.

West Houston: You say "Damage control is vigorously underway." Very true. The BBC is hard at it. Richard Black's blog has shut up shop. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/richardblack That doyen of investigative journalism, Roger Harrabin has a deep throat at CRU to provide the truth. He also relies on RealClimate and Gavin for the real outside view on events! See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8371597.stm for the dismissive cover-up.

I assume that the 1st info dump will be followed up with another dump and/or continuing threats of such. This is classic use of OODA loop (for observe, orient, decide, and act). The Blogosphere Swarm attack has utilized the OODA loop technique involving several succesful examples, the Dan Rather takedown, the Acorn takedown by Breibart and unsuccessful examples, Obama election being the most important.

"And I also can't help wondering about the timing of the release of the hacked material, just as the warmists are winding up the ratchet for Copenhagen. Cui bono?"

Well, given that the alarmists have been averaging 2-3 big "new report released" scare stories for the past month or so in the run up to Copenhagen, why shouldn't a whistle-blower aim to release his bombshell for similar effect? Sauce for the goose...

Though from reading CA, there also has to be a suspicion that somebody in CRU had been putting off leaking in the hope that FOA would save him/her the need. So once it became obvious that FOA was being willfully evaded (and I suspect that falls under Conspiracy to break the law, so I hope the police are paying attention) the decision was made to leak it instead.

My guess is that there's more to come. It would not be a good strategy to upload all the hacked documents at the same time, and there is probably a huge amount of e-mails not included in the FOI2009.zip. A good strategy would be to give us the time to go through the FOI2009.zip thoroughly, so we don't miss anything important, before the next upload. That's at least how I would do it. And I would save the best stuff for the final dump.

Also, in some way I find Phil Jones' reaction strange. He is so quiet. As if he is waiting for something more to happen.

I am new to this blog (and looking forward to getting my now pre-ordered copy of The Hockey Stick Illusion).
Here in the USA, there is talk about government control of internet content. I am sure that is being discussed in the UK as well.
This important release of the Hadley CRU emails and some RAW data would be stopped if our government prols and politicians controlled the internet. Everyone that is enjoying the email leak (I am having a great time with it.) needs to work to ensure internet censorship never happens.

Take care and keep cool.

Bishop Hill,

Hello sir. I found this blog through a link from WattsUpWithThat. Good work here. I would like to point you to a 34th issue that perhaps you missed. It is contained in this email, found at the searchable database created at anelegantchaos.org.

http://www.anelegantchaos.org/cru/emails.php?eid=332&filename=1056478635.txt

To be charitable, the wording is curious.

They could be following the strategy that Andrew Breitbart has been using for incriminating evidence about groups like the NEA and ACORN, which is to release enough information that if the mainstream media and law enforcement were doing their job, would lead to further investigation and if they don't bite, then release some more.

I am enjoying myself, Bish - thank you for asking.
By coincidence, I recently had the following amusing email from the office of one Mr Brown:
http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page21266

Nov 22, 2009 at 6:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterJames P

I recently had a meeting with my accountant to put in my tax return. He told me that 9 out of 10 times when someone is audited it is because a friend/neighbour/colleague has reported them to the tax office. It appears those who don't pay their fair share of tax often boast about it to friends/neighbours/colleagues and then suffer the consequences.

I'm sure the same thing has happened with these emails where if you are a leading climatologist and you boast about how you are manipulating data, destroying records of correspondence, stifling dissent through unethical means and getting away with it then eventually a friend/neighbour/colleague is going to expose you.

WATCH OUT !..

It's quite disappointing to see how the Main Stream Media (MSM) is so cold over this issue while the internet and blogs are flooded with the revelations of 'Global Warming Myth'. Afterall, isn't that the same media that watched silently the engineered collapse of economy. Wasn't it the same media that established an imaginary link between 9/11 and Iraq to assist Bush administration let alone propagated the 'War on Terror hoax' the Swine flu hoax and have been whipping up hysteria over the global warming issue. So there's more to Copenhagen Treaty, it's got nothing to do with Global warming but to use it as a catalyst or reason to create a World Government for the global management of the planet by taxing the population for CO2.

However, WATCH OUT.. Since all these leaked emails are credible evidence to the hidden fraud of global warming, the establishment, in next few days may insert fake emails to the pool and pollute the entire pot so that some media can come forward and discredit the whole story. So be careful and watchful of what we read, particulary through the MSM.

Finally, hats-off to the hacker and may God bless his soul for doing what he did which many scientists have been struggling to get for years.

You know, most people seem to see AGW as a leftist scam, whereas I see it as either a huge blunder or a rightist scam. I mean, there really are green issues out there, like the loss of habitats, overpopulation, over-consumption of raw materials, weapons proliferation, etc. With all those issues, all we seem to hear about is tenth of degree variations in global temperature! AGW has even been used to justify more nuclear power stations, with all the attendant risks of a nuclear accident, or a terrorist incident.

Nov 27, 2009 at 8:43 PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Bailey

Replying to Isaac's comment,

I don't think polluting the pool with fake emails would be that easy - even for the establishment. WikiLeaks has the original ZIP (which is where I obtained it) And that site contains many very embarrassing, leaked documents from many countries - it was set up to resist interference.

I reckon they have blown their chance to claim the information isn't genuine - after all, it would be the work of a few hours at most, to download the ZIP and compare it against the original - they must have done that.

Nov 28, 2009 at 11:41 AM | Unregistered CommenterDavid Bailey

I doubt if more will be forthcoming from the copied records of the CRU correspondents.

Apparently, whoever had released this archive had tried several times to put it online, on 12 October sending it anonymously to BBC reporter Paul Hudson, so the UEA/CRU blather about the hacking having occurred on 17 November is yet another lie. Other attempts to upload the file to other Web sites were made between 12 October and the final successful effort on 19 November.

All of these prior attempts had been obliterated by the Web sites' proprietors, so this story has really struggled to get out. The root weevils of the dying media will continue to do their damnedest to suppress it, but they're failing.

By the way, the honorable and respected newspaperman's word for what they're trying to do to Climategate is called "spiking," as in leaving all reporting and other information impaled on a copyspike on someone's desk, never to be submitted for publication.

If anyone reading this, wants their copy of the emails and everything else, you will still find the zip file at
