Bashful cops

Sky has the footage of the police searching Damian Green's office, which was taken by some of the Tory staffers. They may be the stupid party, but that was reasonably quick thinking.

What I find bemusing is that they have pixellated the faces of the police officers concerned. Why should they do that? The police are public servants and they have no right to expect privacy when they are at work. It is the right of every one of us to film the police. It's one of the few ways we have to keep them honest.

They blurred them because they want to stay on the good side of the police - they'd like to make use of them once they're in power...

This scandal is not making much news in the MSM here in NZ, but has been picked up by bloggers of the left and right. The response is pretty much the same; shock and horror. A real turning point in public consciousness perhaps of usurped and dangerous state power.

I didn't realise until today that the Serjeant-at-Arms had a whole day to consider the document the police gave her, and she says she took advice! No-one that she asked apparently considered that a search warrant might be a good idea, or that it might be worth referring to the Home Secretary. We know she didn't, because Ms Smith denies any prior knowledge!

Whom did she ask, I wonder..?
