The biggest risk from nuclear is the dithering about replaing them (with new nuclear or gas). The stations can't help but age and even if it doesn't cause a nuclear accident, they run the risk of failure when we need the power most.

Nuclear power stations "dangerous decay" : 3pm R4 Costing the Earth today
The TV I mentioned yesterday was a kind of trailer
The reactor is made up of a stack of 10,000 graphite bricks, with hollow vertical tubes for the fuel rods to go it and adjacent tubes for control rods to go down. In operation the bricks crack.

The operators say 10, 20% cracking is OK
The activists worry that in a emergency the control rods might not get down the tubes to stop the reaction.
They company say that the can , and have even come up with modified flexible control rods so they can cope with 30% of the bricks cracking ..so there is no problem in extending the operating life of the vessels.

People are brainwashed by news media which filters news to make a kind of soap opera
and they get true emotional attachment although it's none of their business.
Doubly so cos not only do they not have a vote they are seeing a false soap opera version rather than reality.

The BBC has a service called BBC Trending to spot internet trends. 2 days ago did their programme report the ProjectVeritas and their 20+ million views within the week ?

No they reported the "Tell America Its Great" campaign cos that has 1 million retweets.
They also didn't mention Wikileaks Hillary leaks despite it also being much bigger.

Stewgreen. An interesting viewpoint but not unique. One can equally well accuse you of being overly optimistic. Thus you seem to believe that (for example) a Trump presidency will not be a disaster. Whereas others believe on the basis of a lack of political experience and his thin-skinned behaviour that he might be a disaster. As I have already explained, I have no particular axe to grind since I am completely unable to influence the outcome.

Tonight 8-9pm BBC2 Arctic Live 1/3 : Expect Global warming Propaganda
BBC Press Release
"Every autumn, polar bears gather on the shores of Hudson Bay in Canada to wait for the sea ice to form, so they can begin their winter hunt. And every year, they’re waiting longer."
extra words the Times put in :
"as global temperatures, rise the bears have even longer to wait for their hunting ground to form, but the less ice there is, the easier it is for companies to access the oil, gas and minerals, beneath the frozen wastes"
(BTW not necessarily true; mining is easier in Siberia in the winter, cos you can drive anywhere : straight over rivers, lakes etc.)

I think I am one of the few people to live in the Real world.
Seems 99% live a fantasy world, and have certainty about things they don't have evidence for
"Oh Global Warming is going to be catastrophe"
"Oh Brexit is going to be catastrophe"
"Oh a Trump presidency is going to be catastrophe" etc.
They KNOW these many things...I know I don't know many things.

You can't reason, with the unreasonable.

No one here seems to give me any credit for writing
"Neither of them should have been selected to run for the highest office. The best we can hope for is that the majority in Congress will belong to the opposite party".

I have more or less given up reading opinion pieces on the US election altogether. Since my bought with pneumonia and a heart problem I find my concentration is at a premium. (Beta blockers are paying havoc with my system. Currently I'm reading and considering using microbubbles to brighten and thereby cool ocean waters. I find this far more interesting than considering the relative demerits of the US election contenders, the election of which I cannot influence.
Sorry but that's where I am exercising my judgement.
This string all began when I ventured a criticism of a single Stewgreen post that was all unsupported opinion and ventured an opinion that his value to most here is his tireless survey of the media bringing goodies to our table. I am unrepentant for doing that.

IF this is true, then Australian Courts and Lawyers may get busy.

Lewandowsky can stop writing about conspiracy theories and concentrate on corruption truths, though Lewandowsky may struggle with writing about the concept of truth, as he doesn't really seem to understand it, preferring to concentrate on his excellent experience of writing conspiracies.

Open your mind and read conflicting opinions, digest, analyse and learn.

For a mental exercise earlier this morning I tried to recall what emails I sent and recieved [sic] in August and couldn't do it. My email activity is at a very low ebb now. Consulting my files I found what I thought was a complete list. I would have reported to any authority that the list I could supply was complete. Later today I recalled two other files, no longer visible on my laptop but on discs. Low and behold additional emails that I had "deliberately hidden".
Make of this what you will!

Huge difference, no legal requirement for you to preserve email. Hillary, as a USA federal employee had a legal requirement to preserve email and other correspondence.

.
Actually, at base it was about (Hillary) trying to get around Freedom of Information Act requirements, as well as federal data retention requirements.

Abedin apparently did the same thing (lying to federal investigators). That got Martha Stewart convicted. But Martha wasn’t a Friend of Hillary.

.
Evidently the career FBI agents, including his (Comey) immediate subordinates, are in more or less open revolt over his initial handling of the Clinton email mess. There are tales both of mass resignations and that agents in the FBI headquarters where refusing to acknowledge Comey’s existence when they came into contact with him. Supposedly Comey saw this as a way to make amends and repair his reputation within the FBI. (It won’t.)

Now with this it is hard to see Clinton as anything but a dead bitch walking. I cannot see Bernie Sanders’ supporters turning out in droves for her, but I can see a lot of swing voters just saying “Sod it” and staying home, no matter how high their distaste for Trump.

.
ACK, some more for you to read, although no doubt you won't as you want to avoid all who disagree with your beliefs. Thank God some scientists have shown courage in the past and defied the "establishment" and not been a sheep.

1. My Heart is an Alligator

2. Hillary Clinton’s Emails

.
Oooooh!

So, the wife of the Deputy Director of the FBI got significant campaign donations from Terry McAuliffe, part of Clinton Central!

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Mr. McCabe’s wife, Jill McCabe, received $467,500 in campaign funds in late 2015 from the political-action committee of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime ally of the Clintons and, until he was elected governor in November 2013, a Clinton Foundation board member.

That’s a hell of a lot of money for a State Senate campaign……

What fun!

When the Trump says that the election is rigged, everyone jumps on him and says “how dare you attack the election process”. When Hillary’s campaign basically claim that the Director of the FBI is a crook, the media applaud and transmit the claim.

The partisan reporting makes me want to see the Donald win, just so I can see all the pointy heads explode. I also want to see him win as Hellary is a dishonest warmonger.

Strange though it may seem to you ACK, my mother, her sister, and many other UK females also detest Hellary and describe her thus: "Hillary Clinton is an evil, power & money obsessed liar who should be in gaol"
