Solar Roadways

The €5 million solar roadway in France is simply rubbish.

Dave Jones of EEVBlog runs the numbers.

33% of the output for 9 times the cost of an "ordinary" solar system......

News at Ten last night : Sopels's propaganda piece Direct link to that 45seconds
"But the speech had nothing to say about Climate Change
The Emperor's suit is the finest thing I've ever seen
..It's made up of hurricanes, forest fires and Paris"

ends at 5:21s

I see with that @mottv tool it doesn't give you a transcript cos it only scans progs periodically
You have to look at the tweet time and them look at that timing on iPlayer
but it did pick up 33 mentions of "Climate Change in the last 24 hours
eg " 50 countries and one cool kid at a climate change summit in Brussels, warning the world is ..."
Incredibly in the same period there's 1 mention of Brexit, Trump 2, US 8, Muslim 0, Corbyn 0, Israel 35

Dippy US Science authorities
\\ Statement by NAS, NAE, and NAM Presidents on Report of Banned Words at CDC
... If it is true that the terms “evidence-based” and “science-based” are being censored ...
National Academy of Sciences
National Academy of Engineering
National Academy of Medicine //

Why did they put out a statement on rumours ?
Why didn't they contact the CDC and check first ?
The CDC later came out with the emphatic statement that no such words were banned

Our useless media fail to understand that autonVs are iterative
And that we are not going to from nothing to village cars driving from cottage to motorways.
Times has article on West Australia desert mining trucks retrofitting to autonomous.
Driverless but mentions remote drivers in Perth.
You get rid of 4 around the clock drivers.

My relations being a mixed bag of nationalities reflect different stories too - with families and individuals emigrating. It's anecdotal stuff and the gender proportions I suspect varied quite a lot with the reason for moving - no doubt some academics around the place have researched the numbers.

That said - an easily understood and reasonably enforced regime is I think where it should pitched for the UK. If you're coming to work then the employer has a responsibility and the terms must be clear. If you are fleeing persecution then due diligence and compassion must be applied.

I'm not saying that winnowing out the cheats is easy - I am saying that our public servants are not making a decent job of it and the legal profession has been wallowing in a river of cash massaging dubious claims.

There are thousands of legitimate migrants - I have heard some quite grotesque tales of bureaucratic self indulgence, monumental high handedness and incompetence inflicted on people who are legitimately here. The indignation I have heard from legitimate documented migrants is entirely understandable.

The rules are rubbish and need tidying up, the enforcers and especially their supervisors are rubbish and need a huge kick up the pants. On several trips through the tunnel I've seen very furtive and nervous van drivers who've been ignored while coach loads of UK OAPs have had their legitimately purchased, EU tax paid + receipted tobacco seized.

It's a poor state of affairs where a trucker can be detained + have his / her truck confiscated if they spot migrants on board and drive around to the immigration people - they should be given a reward! (The trucker arrest + seizure was the case several years back - I hope it isn't now) - it all really does make you wonder....

The predominantly male thing isn't based on any meaningful data, just my own ancestral research. I've traced my family back to the early 18th late 17th century down most lines. The emigrants are as follows, 5 single males and three families. This doesn't mean that no single females left singly just I haven't found them yet. The departures came from across britain, mainly East Anglia and NW Scotland. The destinations were Canada (family members then progressed to USA), New Zealand and Australia.
