BBC2 now Greenpeace led scare story about orangutans
...actually they are not that rare ..if you are around long enough (years) in some places which are not the normal tourist spots.you spot them ..say near someones weekend house.

On the Malaysian sides the Malaysian gov is on top of it.
And Even in Indonesian areas most locals respect the conservation.

I saw one in a cage at a small sultans palace ..it's the kind of thing you see, cos they are not that rare ..say compared to rhinos, where the conservation of rhino seem a disaster.

There are that many orangutan rescue centers that the tourists go to , that the orangutans are no endangered
It's a good thing that the tourists go to these pseudo jungles, coss it means they don't go the real jungle and leave the nature alone.

Deforestation is a real problem but Greenpeace support for biofuel is a partial reason for that.

Heavy on the emotional blackmail "look at all these orphans ..as they claim at their rescue centre are babies.
I don't know where their rescue centre is, but many adults are at all the rescue centres I've heard of.

I agree with Michael Fabricant, UK should withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest after Brexit.

It's a farce and waste of taxpayers money.

@Stewgrenn. Indeed, if it had been behind their desk area, where one can't get to, then that could be confidential, but this was opposite seats where the public sit . She was so pompous and officious about it, which made me laugh even more.

Eurovision - of course the EBU has nothimg to do with the EU, but would it be EBUxit if we did leave ?. Wogan said a few years back when we scored nil points that GB could never get relegated because we pay too much into it. Germany the same. Austria refused to play for a while, when they were forced to appear in the semi-finals. I bet the French wangle cash out of it ...

If you have a tidal barrier don't you usually set it so that the fresh water side it higher than the sea side ?

Making Rivers "navigable" with locks and weirs, would never be allowed today by environmental activists. Teddington Lock on the Thames is a clear divide between saltwater tidal, and non tidal fresh water. Whole eco systems that were dependant on variable salinity must have been wiped out.

The Progressive EU's annual popularity contest is this weekend. Is there a graph showing the UK's rise and fall from grace, long before BREXIT?

Guido is usually aligned with the demands of the ERG group of Tory Brexiters, but this time they’ve surely gone too far. Flamboyant Tory MP Michael Fabricant has suggested the UK should withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest after Brexit, asking Culture Secretary Matt Hancock:

“Does my right hon. Friend share my dismay that Brexit does not mean that we are leaving the Eurovision song contest?”

The Secretary of State shot down the idea:

“We should apply to the Eurovision Song Contest a principle that I try to apply to my life: whenever something goes wrong, we should try, try and try again, and maybe we will eventually get there.”
