If you can be bothered (I can't!) to go back a few years, you will be aware that I am very pleased that prosecutions against individual abusers and groups/rings of abusers have steadily increased.

It should be irrelevant whether the abuse took place at famous football clubs, public schools, armed forces, churches, mosques, synagogues etc. I am equally dismayed that "minority groups" of any race, colour or creed were considered untouchable for fear of upsetting THEM.

Too many of the victims have been lured into a drink/drug lifestyle, other crimes and prison, so the "Authorities", including Police, Lawyers, Judges, Social Services, Local Authorities could simply dismiss their words as unreliable or plain incoherent, and would not base an investigation around them.

Victims of rape and other forms of abuse have always been reluctant to pursue their assailants through to the Courts, with fear of the Police, Legal and Court process being amongst the reasons, but fear of intimidation and ridicule at the hands of Defence Lawyers being the highest. Being forced to relive their ordeal is not pleasant, having to relive it again for reasons outside their control must be horrific.

Victims of any crime are entitled to a fair trial, so are the accused.

Electrification is a magic solution
\\ TRAVEL: Due to severe damage to overhead electric wires,
all trains between Peterborough & Grantham are suspended.
This will cause severe disruption to @Hull_Trains and @LNER services.
LNER are advising passengers not to travel today. Hull Trains services will divert via Lincoln.//

Bugger has resigned. No doubt to prevent Boris selecting his replacement. I suppose we could give hime the benefit of the doubt and just assume he jumped before he was pushed.

@Rhoda it was Uzbekistan
23 Oct 2004 \\ is clear when you meet Craig Murray, suspended as ambassador to Uzbekistan for speaking out on human rights, that he is not the Foreign Office type.//
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1474852/The-envoy-silenced-after-telling-undiplomatic-truths.html
"Two years later he has been hauled back to London and suspended on full pay after "losing the confidence of his colleagues" in one of the most embarrassing scandals "

In this crazy world people drive the outragebus straight at peoplewho standup and speak or send some tweets
..whilst at the same time they don't talk about real humanrights abusers & rapists etc.

Mark, are you mixing up Craig Brown, humorous writer, with Craig Murray, former ambassador who got in some sort of trouble going native in the balkans (IIRC)?

At this very moment there is likely to be another such trial ongoing or being investigated. Reporting restrictions don't just prevent the faces of the accused being viewed (something they didn't mind about during operation Yewtree) but they prevent the trial being mentioned at all. Supposedly to prevent racial tensions. Would they be so delicate if the races involved were reversed? No at all. Any instance of perceived white racism is blasted across the headlines, even when in the case of several 'Brexit related' attacks turned out to be nothing of the sort. Including the gang attack on an innocent Polish guy who in reality turned out to have racially abused a black lad who killed him with a single punch. Society registered the horror at the first headlines of white Brexit fuelled racism but most won't have heard the truth. Why is the system allowed to fuel non white anger at crime but not the reverse. Why are white faces paraded in the press to see if any more victims come forward but non white faces must be protected?

GC, while TR was threatening the trial, it was only because our system is now seriously messed up. If the systems had acted on the abuse cases in a timely manner, TR would be nowhere. His major 'crime' was contempt of court, one of the few things our judges remain firm about. Which is abuse of power. He's accused of inciting violence but actual violence doesn't seem to be that much of an issue anymore. He'd have got less for stealing from the jury. Shop lifting is now essentially legal. Islamic hate preachers were, and are allowed to spill bile with narry a mention. I don't like TR one little bit but he IS discriminated against because he's a white racist thug. By all means lock him up and throw the key away for all I'm concerned but do the same for the rest. By making an example of TR the courts are just virtue signalling. Locking racists away without dealing with the growing problems that fuel them.
