Wall-to-wall climate change propaganda.
M Courtney, you won't find the remain-supporting MSM asking many searching questions regarding LibDem Brexit policy.
The other thing about the LibDem policy is that they seem to assume beyond doubt that we won't leave the EU on 31st October, otherwise why else refuse Johnson's request for a general election when he asked for it? If we do leave on 31st October (personally I still doubt it), then have an election, where will that leave the LibDems' Brexit policy? They can hardly revoke Article 50 if we've already left.
It's another question that the MSM don't seem to be asking.
Stewgreen, yes there are old ironstone mines but these are long abandoned and any land disturbances have been obscured by vegetation and softened over time. One of the functions of National Parks is to preserve industrial archaeology and the old mines (or what is left of them) come under this heading.
It is not part of the remit of the Park's authorities to close down heritage activities, like quarrying. Yet in the southern limestone part of the North Yorks Moors Park I believe every quarry was forced to close when its licence ran out (I visited the last one open sometime in the 1990s). Most visitors would think good, no more nasty quarries spoiling the views, but that was short-sighted. The quarries supplied all the stone to make repairs to buildings and walls (that of course make up part of the beautiful views). Lacking any source of vernacular stone, stone has had to be imported from elsewhere - mostly Millstone Grit from the Pennines and it looks so out of place. (I haven't been back for more than 20 years so the no-quarrying policy could have changed, but I doubt it). Probably the importation of foreign stone has irretrievably changed the Park
