Hmmm......

"Myles Allen is a professor of geosystem science at the Environmental Change Institute in the School of Geography and the Environment, and a professor the Department of Physics, both at the University of Oxford, UK. He was coordinating lead author of Chapter 1, “Framing and Context,” of the IPCC Special Report on a Global Warming of 1.5°C, published in October of 2018."

RT has coverage of Putin in Beijing announcing his plan to DOUBLE gas transit through eastern Russia.
.... That's probably why Putin's little helpers Extinction Rebellion are not working today,
they are celebrating China buying Russian gas instead of western pseudo-green lalaland energy solutions.

@Mark

solutions and partnerships relating to global environmental change )
just tweeted
"Climate change: Is Greta Thunberg right about UK carbon emissions?
The UK was early to industrialise,
it has cumulatively contributed more carbon dioxide emissions than any other country,
according to Prof Myles Allen in " (yes sudden end

Why protesters [everyone, red.] should be wary of ‘12 years to climate breakdown’ rhetoric. https://theconversation.com/why-protesters-should-be-wary-of-12-years-to-climate-breakdown-rhetoric-115489 …

Well argued piece:

So please stop saying something globally bad is going to happen in 2030. Bad stuff is already happening and every half a degree of warming matters, but the IPCC does not draw a “planetary boundary” at 1.5°C beyond which lie climate dragons.

What about the other interpretation of the IPCC’s 12 years: that we have 12 years to act? What our report said was, in scenarios with a one-in-two to two-in-three chance of keeping global warming below 1.5°C, emissions are reduced to around half their present level by 2030. That doesn’t mean we have 12 years to act: it means we have to act now, and even if we do, success is not guaranteed.

And if we don’t halve emissions by 2030, will we have lost the battle and just have to hunker down and survive? Of course not. The IPCC is clear that, even reducing emissions as fast as possible, we can barely keep temperatures below 1.5°C. So every year that goes by in which we aren’t reducing emissions is another 40 billion tonnes of CO₂ that we are expecting today’s teenagers to clean back out of the atmosphere.

[..]

Climate change is not so much an emergency as a festering injustice. Your ancestors did not end slavery by declaring an emergency and dreaming up artificial boundaries on “tolerable” slave numbers. They called it out for what it was: a spectacularly profitable industry, the basis of much prosperity at the time, founded on a fundamental injustice. It’s time to do the same on climate change.

Politicians fawning over Greta the dirty-Climate-PR people's puppet
the 3 fawning musketeers photo bowing to Greta
Miliband/Sadiq/Gove

- Of course they can pretend to be in with XR for their own POLITICAL purposes
=========================

If Ed Miliband really believes in
"think of the children"
.. then his party would have had a WAR FOOTING on groomNrape gangs
..started 10 years back
.. Instead he's showing cynical #Alinsky opportunism

======================

Sadiq probably had the police hold back against XR
so he can use XR for bash the Tories purposes

..Gove then fawns over XR to counter that

3pm Radio4 Announcer
“We are living in climate emergency
.. coming up at 3:30pm Tom Heap speaks to one of the organisers of youth climate group XR”

… FFS this is pretty heavy brainwasing.

Our ancestors lived SHORTER and more difficult lives than us.

Future children are not really going to have shorter lives and suffering through temps getting slightly warmer
.. all the last years dire predictions have proved to be hysterical hyperbole
..There still is plenty of ice in the Arctic , the crops still grow etc.

For 5,000 British children there has been an EMERGENCY
they were groomed/raped/traded/prostituted
.. Except the establishment didn’t act like it was an emergency, did they ?
Instead of the problem no longer existing ..it still goes on
.. although some effort has made it a smaller scale.

Likewise thousands of naive African kids have drowned in the Med , cos our establishment failed to halt the pull factor, and didn’t dispel the myth that Europe is some mind of easy paradise.

Only when truth is tolerated rather than suppressed can we move forward.

Also Monday
Constant agenda pushing
also at 3 pm the Radio4 Twitter account tweeted 20 minutes ago promoting a book of the week serial which ENDED 5 days ago
"By 1979, we knew nearly everything we understand today about climate change - including how to stop it.
Losing Earth - Nathaniel Rich's account of how climate change could have been halted thirty years ago"

The latest is the £7.5m costs of policing
The week the police spent on skateboards and trampolines

The activist callers said the money is small fry
- cos #1 The costs of CC are £trillions
and 2the benefits from innovation are huge

There must be some fallacy there
The Jehovah's witnesses could say they can paralyse London for a month
cos their cause is about saving the universe
and the benefit is everyone will go to heaven.

Well, I'm all for innovation, having attempted it for a living. But the real fallacy is that it is just what you will find most environmental activists NOT doing. They mostly gave up on science and engineering at an early stage of their education because those subjects are generally a bit hard. They have neither the imagination for innovation, nor the training.

It's far easier to campaign for new laws making existing technologies illegal than it is to invent better ones. This probably explains why they are so keen to promote technologies like wind-power, which were proved obsolescent a long time before any of us or our science teachers were born.

XR just pushed this at me : 4 going , 14 interested
Extinction Rebellion are staging a "drown-in" around the fountain in Central Park, Scunthorpe to symbolise the threat of catastrophic sea-level rise and other consequences of unaddressed climate change.

We are asking that the world's governments tell the truth about the threat of climate change, and take strong, immediate action to minimise the extent of climate change.
If you agree that climate change is an important issue that the UK government and others must take seriously, please join us to show your support.
There will be a picnic afterwards - the Picnic of Hope.
All welcome.

My Question : The UK has already done so much to lower CO2 like convert Drax to burning American wood chips
offshored a lot of industry etc.
..so we much have reduced the rate of sea level rise.
Without these measures how high would the sea be ?
say to the nearest 2cm

BBC works in partnership with Extinction Rebellion
So it is no surprise , that this week's lunchtime thinkers bit is a series called The Extinction Tapes
Ostensibly about 5 species going extinct it allows him to stick ijn a lot of agenda pushing
#1 He said W-Africans enslaved on the Clotilde [crew of 12] were *kidnapped*,
A listener called him out
" In fact they were bought by the ship’s captain from the King of Dahomy, sold from his ‘stock’ of c.4k prisoners of war"

Someone else tweets " thank you for sharing the tragic tale of the Alabama Pink Toe Mussel & how the #UK is no better at protecting our #rivers or #wildlife like European eel."

Friday's episode is about White Tailed Eagle
which despite the series title is NOT extinct and has returned to the UK

Ongoing jury trial for breaking £27.5K window.
she claims she's like a suffragette
and only made some minor holes, not the whole thing

'we have identified the woman trying to smash the DfT window as Dr Gail Bradbrook
- a co-founder of XR who 3 years ago took an 11,000 mile flight to her holiday in Costa Rica...'
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7689813/Extinction-Rebellion-founder-caused-27-500-damage-government-building.html

Adeela Khan, for Bradbrook, indicated the protest would be defended as ‘lawful’.

Compare this to September a man protested at Jess Phillips office
when she was 100 miles away

He banged her office winfow and shouted "is this the fascist party offices?" outside the Labour MP's office
he also shouted "why are you blocking democracy?"
before kicking a wooden front door of the MP's office.
I guess he was pressured to plead guilt to harassment
He was fined £60 plus £135 costs
Yet that was less harsh than could have been cos Jess P asked for "leniency because I want to meet him and hear what he has to say".
