Discussion > Penn. State, or State pen. ?

I only ask, because you think it significant that private funding was used to expose Gore's profitable scam.

I know what I think, thanks, and it is not that.

Back on Planet Earth, Al Gore's wealth is built mostly on his shareholdings and board memberships such as Apple and Google, and media interests. All the profits from the movie, his Nobel prize and other climate related activities are donated to an educational charity.

Hmmm - warm water causes tropical cyclones - does it?

Or is it temperature difference - sea surface temp versu the upper atmosphere temp?

If it was just sea surface temp why does the Persian gulf not have tropical storms all the time?

The Persian gulf temp is 24C to 32C and the Gulf of Mexico is 15C to 34C.

Which area should have most tropical storms and why?

Hmmm - warm water causes tropical cyclones - does it?

It is one factor, the other main one being wind shear.

For Phil:

Effects on tropical cyclones[edit]

Tropical cyclones are basically heat engines that are fueled by the temperature gradient between the warm tropical ocean surface and the colder upper atmosphere. Tropical cyclone development requires relatively low values of vertical wind shear so that their warm core can remain above their surface circulation center, thereby promoting intensification. Vertical wind shear tears up the "machinery" of the heat engine causing it to break down. Strongly sheared tropical cyclones weaken as the upper circulation is blown away from the low level center.

The vertical wind shear in a tropical cyclone's environment is very important. When the wind shear is weak, the storms that are part of the cyclone grow vertically, and the latent heat from condensation is released into the air directly above the storm, aiding in development. When there is stronger wind shear, this means that the storms become more slanted and the latent heat release is dispersed over a much larger area [14][15]

So perhaps you think it would have been better if Criminal Charges had been instigated by the UK Government for corrupting the innocent minds of school children, or perhaps for fraud, and maybe some of Gore's awards should be retracted.

You are very quick to call other people liars, yet triumph Connolley's opinions.

Please explain.
