Worst BBC show ever?

BBC Radio 4's Costing the Earth show took a break from its normal magazine format this week, going instead for a panel debate about the future of food. It may just have been the most toe-curling piece of radio I've ever heard from our national broadcaster. I think I must have switched off something like a dozen times during the course of the half-hour show as one preposterous position after another was put forward by the hand-picked halfwits who made up the majority of the panel. It was archetypal BBC stuff:
- Audience of noisy left wing hippies - check
- Biased panel - check
- Frequent climate change references - check
- Calls for world government - check
- Anti-profit message - check
- Millenarian message - check
- More equality required - check
- More vegetarianism required - check
And what is more panel managed to get through the whole discussion without mentioning biofuels once (I kid you not), although they did cover such important topics as the future of locusts in the foodchain (I'm not kidding here either).
It's amazing. I commend it to readers of a calm disposition.

There was a time the bbc employed 2500 people. That was a time where you needed 6 people to carry a camera across the street , and it took a days travel and 2 days processing from a crew to translate that into something peole could watch or listen to. This way they had to fill several hours of tv and many hours of radio. They were largely idealistic people not paid a lot , with a calling to inform the people on what was happening in the world, we did not know a lot about. IT was sort of accepted the state organised this as it would have been unprofitable , it was considered, to have anything of the like done by private means.
Nowadays a 5y old can handle a camera and produce high quality video and sound and send it to her granny across the world in a second. Most of the broadcasting time, which people watch/listen less and less to btw as there is a massive glut of information and entertainment, most of their broadcasts if of any quality is BOUGHT IN.
Not only do they have easy to use media hardware but as everybody they have mobiles, internet, databases etc to work more efficiently.
And guess what? We have now 25.000 of them. All of them in for the long run. And with a goal not to report news but to fabricate it for us. And all paid well above the median and 10x over the median if you consider what they do (low risk, highly entertaining and ultra low skill)
Did we ever agree to this? Or was there only some career politician somewhere that skipped democratic principles for her own career, and "fixed" that for them?
This is how non social contracts evolve into complete perpetuated and institutionalised THEFTS whereby THEY start to rule over us and in fact create indeed rules whereby people get thrown in jail who do not abide by the rules of this SCUM.
There's a lot of misinformation and half truth here about TV Licensing requirements. For all the facts and FAQs, see here:
http://www.tvlicenceresistance.info/forum/index.php/topic,5925.0.html
you have NO legal obligation to contact BBC TV Licensing if you cancel your licence.
you have NO legal obligation to contact BBC TV Licensing in reply to their threatening letters.
you have NO legal obligation to answer questions from their door-knocking salesmen. Simply tell them to leave. Licensing
There is NO need to tell them you no longer watch LIVE TV.
I only listen to radio 4 whilst driving or gardening. I heard the programme during a 2 hour weeding session. It's a good job I live in the middle of nowhere, as the sound of a small, ranting 63 year old widow might have disturbed any passers by. The air was blue!
I had read, only a few days ago, that we presently produce enough food to feed 11 billion. It is only due to inefficiency, war and lack of political will that anyone starves these days. Most of the people on the programme were egregiously misinformed. Lord, it makes me CROSS.
BTW Saturday 3rd May was World Press Freedom Day
..free as in "all climate skeptical viewpoints will be suppressed"
..meanwhile over on Radio Wales there was a glowing, but not too eco-loony plugging of solar Farms in the Radio Wales Country Focus
..no raving voices, but no critical either
so no one pointed out the same solar panels are 4 times more useful in Africa ..and would save 4 times as CO2 there..but is not about saving CO2 really is it ? #SubsidyMafia
In germany, on the continent in general, where they have learnt to live without wild imbecillic ukazes thrown down by the "elite" unto the populace, the TVL "controllers" would quickly stop with their schutzstaffel zeal after the first inspectors would return and report back to "base", with an old tv shoved up their behind.
we have 10000 MRC officers controlling if taxes ae paid to the penny, for the last 100years.
Our public sector "friends" do not suffer from this, they are PAID FROM taxes(they quickly invent taxes of course, to fit in, but no: we pay it for them) , thereby leading a no stress life (they quickly "invent" stress of course, to fit in) with never s hred of redundancies reorganisation, a department that closes, a department that moves 1000miles take it or leave it no fancy royal compensation etc etc.
Hereby , our public sector workers , or rather the semi public sector ones (the true ministry staff are indeed poorly paid but also frustratingly bad managed) like our friends the parasiting BBC scum with an agenda to educate and criminalise us as described above NEVER hvae any accountability to answer to.
Let's move the priority of the HMRC for 10 years now into checking if everyone in places like BBC indeed provides "true value for money", or is just basically stealing away money from the tax purse.
there are 2 sides tto the coin: shekels go INTO the purse, shekels are spent OUT OF the purse.
Our career politicians with a brain of a turd might not yet have considered this:
Let's for once check on the SECOND part, how the money is indeed spend.
It simply CAN NOT be that the bbc, or your electricity or water supplier (a crony company), or the fire fighters service have SUCH good managers that they do not need the metrics and rules of say, McDonalds or Falck firefighting or FOX media.
I have seen a few of their managers "talk" , and no : I think they are NOT that good. Just think of a Mark the fart who left the bbc for doing "something" on his yacht erm the nytimes.
The ONLY plausible explanation they never fire, and only "grow" is that they are THIEVES on the tax purse.
Put the HMRC on THEM.
thank you.
have a nice day.
Refer to your local career politician if you want to be bit kowtowed at to relieve from the stress.

2500 -> 25000
is that true FFS, that is probably why I'm very supportive of what is essentially a libertarian blog here. 'Corruption' in all forms appears to be coming the norm in this country.
well it started from zero anyway didn't it. So there will be a time when there were 2500
the numbers now are to be looked at very skeptically as it is mostly smoke and mirrors,; remember the high salaried whether sound technician "expert" or presenter , they are all nested in sole employment contracts and out of their stats anyway. It is a tepid stinking pool and you cannot see the bottom only the yellow green qualms that make it sometimes to the surface
I am pretty sure they have a firewall of young wimmin and peole from ghana on a hunger contract to show us , in case. Before the whiteys drive off to their next banquet where they will discuss what we should think in our next short, cold shower
I've just heard the repeat of the programme on Long Wave. It was so depressing and I agree with the Bish that it was greenganda, where every other reference was either GM or Climate Change. I only listened to it as I was on my way to TalkSport to hear the football and was sidetracked by this nonsense.
I have to take issue with ptw about TV licences on the Continent. The state broadcasters often have both advertising AND a licence fee.In Austria it is about 250 Euros, one has to pay for Radio and TV. If you have cancelled your licence, you can rely on an inspector coming round to visit within a few weeks. It happened to me and several of my friends.
It's even inserted into Thought for the Day, as in the programme this morning, when Bishop Tom Butler began by describing an exhibition called "Tipping Point" where grains of sand are added to a heap until there is a mini- avalanche (I believe this is known as art these days). He followed this with the definitive statement, " The same thing happens with climate change..... etc etc" At which point the radio was switched off yet again-( I wonder why I bother to keep switching it on at all.)
Perhaps I should write and ask him for the evidence which proves his statement.
@David Petch
As I am sure you must have thought at the time, it just beggars belief that anyone could recommend the maoist system, which killed, at a bare minimum, forty million people between 1957 and 1962. That's not counting the blood-letting following the communist takeover in 1949, the insanely stupid loss of life in the Korean War, or the purges of the "cultural revolution". Unfortunately, the green idea is in a direct line of descent from eugenics, via population control, the Chinese "one baby" policy, enforced sterilisation in India and Subsaharan Africa, through the abortion-crazy US Democrats and British Labour party, to the green notion that the very existence of humans is Bad. Of course, the greens exempt some humans. No prizes for guessing which.
I see a point in thorough controls and policing for insurances (eg car insurances)
All cars should be insured the ones that are not and get liable in an accident must tap a default insurance.
Now those caught without an insurance should pay INTO that default insurance and quite heavily so.
Note this is not done in most places and you could get handicapped by an accident with an uninsured car driver and be completely duped.
But to police television, come on , is this nazi era or what?
Why do we -need- the public broadcaster anyway
If it is to provide an emergency channel for government in case of problems, that could be fixed at 0.01% of the present cost.
They are a bunch of entitled unionised PARASITES that is what they are.
