Simon Singh's integrity problem

There is, indeed, an accepted scientific theory which I do not dispute and which, the alarmists claim, justifies their belief and their alarm.

This is the so-called greenhouse effect: the fact that the earth's atmosphere contains so-called greenhouse gases (of which water vapour is overwhelmingly the most important, but carbon dioxide is another) which, in effect, trap some of the heat we receive from the sun and prevent it from bouncing back into space.

Nigel Lawson in his essay in Standpoint, 1 May

Good that Ken Clarke called Lord Lawson a climate change denier. It is time that other politicians stopped mincing their words.

re cO2 warming theories, of utmost importance is that you "believe"
Once you "believe" it all comes together and makes sense..

Until less and less people can make a nice living of this believe , of course, at which time a crisis
can occur and for example other "beliefs" are thrown up. A schism.

"high emissions of methane"

I wonder if Natalie Bennett knows that the gas being extracted (i.e. what she uses to heat her home) is the same stuff?

"Ye Gods, where to begin...Mr Singh needs another staffer to join him at the trough. One who can read and advise..."

or at least read.....

Temperature is related to CO2 concentration via climate sensitivity, which is AIUI a logarithmic relationship.
Presumably the theoretical homeopathic effect is related to concentration, also in a logarithmic relationship, but negatively signed.
Is that correct?

According to a recent post (WUWT, I think), concern over methane emissions is misplaced because its absorption spectrum overlaps heavily with that of water vapour so there is little energy for it to absorb, whatever composition level it may reach.

I think that "Does the truth matter?" is the poignant way to put the question in this case.

It's time that Simon Singh emigrated to Rockall.
