Actually, I am fairly familiar with Wales (I love the country). My parents used to live in North Wales. When I was at university on the south coast of England, I would return to North Wales either through Monmouth, Powys, Wrexham or Flintshire, as the fancy took me.
I have driven a lot in Wales particularly the Conwy Valley and Snowdonia. When I was a student, and driving more affordable, one year I went to Wimbledon 3 times in one week driving each day from North Wales to London. It was far cheaper than staying in London (my parents would fill the car up with petrol), and much more fun! Driving in Wales was always a pleasure. That pleasure was lost when I moved to live in London.
