One for the vine

I'm off to Edinburgh in a short while. I'm due to appear on the Jeremy Vine show (around 12:30). George Monbiot and I will be discussing the recent wet weather.
(I'm not sure how the invitation fits with the Jones report and its conclusions on sceptics appearing on the airwaves. No doubt outrage will ensue.)

So the Horn of Africa example is valid because Monbiot says so and the Bish's Hurricanes example is invalid because Monbiot says so? With this level of debate and logic from the 'alarmist' camp, no wonder that even the BBC is ever so slowly changing tack. Today's coverage of the Arctic glazier 'calving' was quite muted compared with what would have been the case a number of years ago. Thanks to the Bish for his latest foray into the fray.
Um, if they haven't defined "extreme weather" then they can't possibly have measured the incidence of, or increase in, "extreme weather". “Where are the studies” one might cry. Well, Andrew drew attention to two studies of what normal people might consider extreme: floods and Hurricanes/cyclones.
Have they (IPCC?) defined extreme? (The Rest-Of-The-World might laugh at the thought of rain being considered "extreme" in the UK. No offense intended: I know from living there that rain is not as common as is believed by those hailing from Miami or Waggawagga.)
I thought the interview went well, the only suggestion I could make is, when GM talks of “scientists” that one offers the gentle correction “SOME scientists”.
