GWPF and Jo Nova hacked

GWPF and Jo Nova have both apparently been hacked. I am endeavouring to get in touch with the GWPF guys.

It's been happening regularly at Jo's for over a month - with increasing frequency.

Her IT guy Waffle has commented about it at WUWT.

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/08/14/the-gwpf-and-jo-nova-web-sites-down/

On Jo's site earlier he claimed he's pretty near to identifying the perpetrators.

Funny these sort of things don't seem to happen to Real Climate, Tamino, Deltoid etc etc

If it did happen to them, of course, they'd be ringing up their media mates with conspiracy allegations.

Don't get excited about the GWPF hack. It's just a bot hack, not at all targeted. The bot runs on compromised PCs and scours the internet looking for insecure website configurations. When it finds them it merely executes scripts which exploit known weaknesses, automagically.

I had very little nice to say about the GWPF's web host the other day. I have much worse things to say today. Shocking.

Benny Peiser and Nigel Lawson are both on holiday.

I'm not an IT whizz but it seems odd that if you click on the islamic propaganda site - you link back to a site called Zone-H-org which seems to be a site exposing and listing these bots.

How would that happen?

Jo also commented at WUWT herself yesterday -

Jo Nova says:

Hi, yes indeed, the site appears to be under attack. We’ve had two DOS attacks today and now another stronger different one, all in 24 hours. Obviously we will be looking closely at our options to stop this.

As of just after 23.00 British Summer Time Jo Nova's site is back up, though seems slow.

Be amusing if the dodgy modellers were also script kiddies.

If Deltoid were hacked, nobody would notice for at least a month -- it's become the Mary Celeste of alarmist blogs.

Aussie PM Gillard has started her re-election campaign with the foreigner detention centers... More demagoguery will be on the way.

Australian blogs critical of the feral government have been coming under sustained DOS attacks for a few weeks already ... including TWAWKI and The Pickering Post. They are so hell bent on censoring criticism that it would not surprise me if their acolytes are the source.

Was this a typo, Streetcred? It's difficult to tell!

Foxgoose, regardless of how Zone-H describes itself, it is a website hackers' bragging site. ;)

[edit] I should add that the GWPF website was not hacked. The site which was hacked was the domain host's own "Account Suspended" site, which had replaced the GWPF website on their domain, and which was insufficiently, or not even slightly, secured against known Apache server vulnerabilities.

GWPF has shown both "This site is undergoing maintenance" and "This site has been discontinued" during the last six hours (currently the former).

Latimer, FYI, Nigel Lawson is not currently on holiday but attending a closed conference on economics of climate change.
