Fife Council is, we understand, short of money but.....

Plans for a £325 million biomass plant at Rosyth have been backed by Fife planning committee, on condition a number of concerns are addressed.....The company also claims the Rosyth area would benefit from the biomass plant due to an 84% saving on carbon emissions.

A coalition of US environmental and forestry groups have written to the Scottish Government claiming Forth Energy's plans to source North American wood for biomass power stations in Dundee, Leith, Grangemouth and Rosyth are unsustainable.

582ft offshore wind turbine at Methil backed

Plans for a huge wind turbine off the Fife coastline have been given the backing of the region's planning committee...........sited just 20 metres off the coast of Methil ...[it] would be visible from East Lothian and the peak of East Lomond in Fife.

Planner Michael Westwater said, "The turbine is intended to operate on a full-time basis, 24 hours a day for up to five years during which the components of the turbine will be tested. After the maximum five-year period it is to be dismantled and removed from the site to be transported to an offshore location."

And taxpayers will contribute how much....?

I wonder if the Martians will form their own analogue of IPCC? Of course CO2 is not a trace gas for them.

"New study links ozone hole to climate change all the way to the equator"

(tilts head, places one finder behind ear for emphasis) Is that the sweet sound of chiseling, I hear?
