Anti anti-nuclear protests may start in France. The UK needs to start an anti anti-fracking protest before the French are forced to shut down all of their lucrative exports of nuclear electricity to the rest of the EU.

yeah.... the US Navy apparently transmitting vessel sailing orders on a frequency they knew wasn't formally monitored by the intended recipient has to be up there :-(
I well remember the HF SSB days when there wasn't any satellite comms... and only a limited time window for the bouncing of signals off the ionosphere.

I go with the "cock-up" theory, or in this instance, a series of cock-ups, that compounded a series of mistakes. The Crew of USS Liberty fell victim to another country operating a shoot first, ask questions later policy, all in the heat of battle.
Some news probably not on BBC TV, Radio or Website
1. Some sanity at last:
...NGOs Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) and SOS Mediterranee recently complained about the lack of migrants saying,”What we’re seeing at sea is that it seems fewer small boats are leaving Libya, and those that do leave are intercepted by the Libyan coastguards.”
"complained about the lack of migrants" - what? MSF and SOS Mediterranee should lose charitable status and be reclassified as terrorist organisations for promoting law breaking.
2. More or less republished:
In Houston after Hurricane Harvey, price-gougers have the moral high-ground by Tim Worstall | Aug 30, 2017, 11:42 AM
Congrats Tim & well done Washington Examiner
Ironically they were all chanting about NO hate.
Some had shields and gloves. Some had helmets. Some had gas masks...
...So that's four mainstream liberal media outlets decrying AntiFa... did they just admit - ever so sheepishly - that President Trump was right? There are 'bad people' on both sides?!
Pcar
if you liked that - I suggest that if you do Twitter - you follow the Russian Embassy in London - they have a mischievous wag on the staff there ;-)
Twitter again - Merkel meets Macron....

Re: Linda Sarsour - that is hilarious (karma) :)
In other slightly related news Linda Sarsour receives a Twitter reply

The motivation for the USS Liberty attack is still afaics exceeding murky even 50 years later.
The US Navy told the ship (as in - ordered it) not to go closer than 100nm the day before - it was obviously a lot closer than that..... and ambling around in the middle of a shooting war. An administrative cock-up it might well have been....

I notice Bloomberg by omitting much of what Hulot has been spouting leaves the impression that he's a responsible and rational individual.
I had a look around... he makes Caroline Lucas seem well informed and positively cerebral. I suspect Macron thought applying some green tint to his administration might attract some support from the assorted idiots on the left who've been trying out "Nuclaire ? - non, merci" for a while now....
Looks like he cuts his own hair too.
