Welcome back, and I endorse in full your comments at 11.57 am (both paragraphs), which neatly summarises my view also.

And on radio 12:15am
\\ The Government plans for one in five of us to be using district heating in just over ten years time.
By 2030 eight million households are expected to be using it compared to half a million at the moment.
District heating is meant to be cheaper and greener by using one big boiler joined to lots of homes.
But some people say they're stuck with expensive energy supplies with no chance to switch and nowhere to go to complain.//

I think that I would count myself amongst your number*, if that's any consolation? I probably don't agree with any of you on all subjects but I can have a civilised conversation and agree to differ on some things and agree on others. You and some others increase my knowledge on a variety of subjects for which I am grateful.

I find no political party reflects my outlook on life which can lead to Paxman moments in the polling booth. I regard those who extol the virtues of a single philosophy as the only way forward with a great deal of caution, whether it be political or religious or anything else.

Depopulation of rural areas is an inevitable consequence of several things as you say. Increased wealth creating potential in cities, mechanisation of agriculture and now robotisation are the two principle causes as far as I'm concerned. Wars, forced evictions and natural disasters merely accelerate the process. I was catcing up with University Challenge last night and one team member was a MacDonald from New Brunswick, my first thought was "oh I bet his forebears came from the same place mine did". You followed an unusual patern in moving from the metropolis to a rural location (apologies to Norwich) I followed what is an increasing trend very rural - urban-rural.
