Gov announce 2 new conservation zones to protect against fishing
I wonder if the conservation zones have been designed to help the windfarms in that area ?

Our host's comment reported in your 11:47 post is equally appropriate here: Where do they get these ludicrous people from?

https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/17675007.rory-stewart-why-i-want-to-be-prime-minister/

Contains this:

"Mr Stewart’s other pledges include doubling foreign aid spent on climate change.."

And this:

The Penrith and the Border MP said: “If I were lucky enough to be Prime Minister, I would be spending much more time in my constituency and have much more power to deal with the big issues which underlie the county and its stability.

“I would be able to have the resources to fly up to the new Carlisle airport...".

Does he engage brain before opening his mouth?

Climate alarmed, but a determined flier....

The person behind that Independent piece is Frances Osowska, CEO of Scottish Natural Heritage. She does things like this:

CycleForNature challenge

https://www.nature.scot/cyclefornature

But as our host points out:

"Where, then, does that leave Ms. Osowska’s prediction of 2030 for the world to come to an end? Does this mean that she has a level of social intelligence slightly below that of a sea sponge, or is she too “joking”?

In fact, we can tell that she doesn’t take the threat of global warming seriously at all.

A brief review of Osowska’s Twitter account reveals that she has enjoyed long-haul flights to Canada, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Australia in the last few years, so it’s fair to say that she is not someone who really thinks we are facing an apocalypse.

In reality, her comments are an attempt to drum up interest in the lecture she is giving tonight at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. They are clickbait, pure and simple.

Nevertheless, I can’t understand why this sort of thing is necessary. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go out on a dreich Scottish evening to hear about how “special initiatives involving young people, gender equality and social inclusion” and “a fresh and innovative approach in galvanizing our care of nature” will save us from disaster?

Where do they get these ludicrous people from?"

"The sea-cooled eco-resort that's nearly mosquito-free
By Jessica Bown
Technology of Business reporter"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48380590

"While some have dismissed the resort as an "island for liberal elites" - Beyoncé and Barack Obama were recent guests - current owner Richard Bailey claims it is close to becoming "carbon neutral and self-sustainable".

Electricity at the complex, for example, is generated from solar panels and coconut oil biofuel, while waste water is used for sustainable irrigation.

And the resort's cooling system uses a "closed loop heat exchanger" that takes very cold sea from 900m (2,950ft) below the surface of the Pacific Ocean to cool the fresh water and air circulating round the complex.

As the cooling system is powered largely by water pressure, it uses very little energy."

I'm glad the article goes on to make the rather obvious point:

"But, of course, visitors to The Brando have to fly to Tahiti first then take another "20-minute flight to paradise", so their carbon footprint is still significant."

Top news - St Greta:

"Huge Greta Thunberg mural painted on Bristol wall"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-bristol-48471558/huge-greta-thunberg-mural-painted-on-bristol-wall

"A large mural of the Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been painted on a wall in Bristol.

The 15m-high image took eight days to paint.

Artist Jody Thomas said Thunberg embodies a "new movement" in the fight against climate change."

It's complete with a polar bear, of course!
